Some people proclaim that music is the highest form of art because it evokes emotion quicker than any other art form. I say that those who believe that, never stood before David by Michelangelo in the Gallery of the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence. There is not doubt that music and fine art share many commonalities. Well versed artists will frequently use musical terms to express a visual component.
I like listening to music when I’m painting. It helps in evoking energy (life) into my work. I like to listen to several variations of music while I’m painting. I look for music that has an international feel to it. Music that is more instrumental than lyrical. If lyrical, less English and more foreign language. Foreign language allows me to stay on the right side of my brain without logically listening.
