Bonomo utilizes a variety of brush sizes however tries to work with the biggest size brush for as long as possible to establish the defining shapes of his paintings and to prevent him from getting too tight or detailed. Bonomo has recently been introduced to Rosemary Brushes out of the UK. A majority of the painting is painted with hog hair bristle brushes, usually in a flat of bright shape. Bristle brushes allow for more control with a thicker application of paint. Flats or brights allow a greater variety of stroke when using the entire surface of the brush.

Bonomo prefers to use Gamblin artist colors, because of their chemistry and profuct information. Bonomo only uses Gamblins Gamsol as a solvent in his studio.
